Plot Review:
Locke and Jean, his trusted partner, have barely made it out alive from what was supposed to be the most successful heist of their careers. Certainly Jean has. However, Locke is gradually succumbing to a deadly poison that no physician or alchemist can eradicate. However, a baffling Bondsmage presents Locke with a chance to either save him or end his life once and for all just as the end draws near.
The factions require a pawn for the upcoming Magi political elections. The venom will be removed from Locke’s body through sorcery if he accepts the role, though the process will be so agonizing that he may wish for death. Locke is against it, but two things break his will: The Bondsmage’s reference to a woman from Locke’s past and Jean’s pleading: Sabetha. She is the love of his life, equal to him in terms of intelligence and skill, and now his biggest rival.
