She is a talented chemist but started her job as a cooking show star on television. She worked as a chemist for 4 years before joining the cooking show because she was fired as a chemist. The novel is humorous and historical fiction as well as tragicomedy. It was originally published on March 29, 2022.

Chemist faced a lot of challenges just because she was a female in male male-dominated society in the mid-20th century. Her career in academia is brusquely ended because of sexual assault to forced her to do a job at Hastings Research Institute. At her workplace, she is involved with her colleague Calvin Evans and they become life partners. Elizabeth’s life turns tragic because of her pregnancy and the sudden death of her husband Calvin.
After this tragedy, her boss fired her for misleading the employer. She joins a television cooking show named Supper at Six because she needs to meet her expenses. She is an asset for the show because she has complete scientific knowledge which she delivers to the audience based on mostly females.
Theme: Elizabeth faces a lot of issues, disloyalty, challenges, and discrimination in the whole novel but she always manages those challenges and rises. Ultimately, Elizabeth gets to know that her mother-in-law, Avery Parker had been funding her research as a chemist in Hastings, her old workplace. Elizabeth returned to Hastings in a higher position because her mother-in-law, Elizabeth and her daughter, became part of their lives. The novel’s basic theme is gender inequality, family concerns, science vs. religion tragedies, and overcoming traumas.
