Plot Review:
Fifteen-year-old Aristotle “Ari” Mendoza has no designs for the late spring of 1987. He is exhausted, hopeless, and forsaken. Ari lives with his mom and his dad; his two more established sisters have grown up and moved away and his more seasoned sibling is in jail. Everybody in Ari’s family won’t discuss his sibling and acts as though he were dead.
Ari’s dad served in the Vietnam War, yet in addition, won’t discuss his encounters in a fight. One evening, Ari goes to the nearby pool, where a kid named Dante Quintana offers to encourage him how to swim. The young men bond over their old-style names and ultimately become indivisible.
